One variable Askey-Wilson polynomials depend on four parameters and are orthogonal with respect to a measure, with partly discrete and partly continuous support. In an earlier publication (1995-96) the author introduced the orthogonality measure for the multi-variable Askey-Wilson polynomials, without the restriction, that, the modulus of each of the four parameters is \(\leq 1\). The present paper deals with an extended and detailed proof of the above cited paper of the author. The proof of the orthogonality measure, presented in this paper, envelops a crucial proposition which leads to the self adjointness of a second order \(q\)-difference operator for which Askey-Wilson polynomials are eigenfunctions. Section 1 and 2 of this paper seems to be extensively informative, while Section 3 discusses the analysis of the main results, presented in the form of propositions and theorems, evaluated by using the concept of \(q\)-shifted factorial.
