Let \(\Omega\) be a regular bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^d\), \(d\geq 2\), and let \(p> 1\) and \(\alpha> 0\). In the present study the authors deal with the semilinear degenerate equation \[ \Delta_x u= (d(x))^\alpha u^p(x)\quad\text{in }\Omega,\tag{1} \] where by \(d(x)\) the distance from \(x\) to the boundary \(\partial\Omega\) of \(\Omega\) is denoted; \(\Delta_x\) is the Laplacian. The large solutions of (1) are considered, that is the solutions which blow up at the boundary: \[ u(x)\to\infty\quad\text{as }d(x)\to 0. \] The authors precise the expansion of the solutions, which depends on the mean curvature of the boundary.
