In Newtonian gravity, the equilibrium structure of spherical stars, with pressure \(p\) of matter depending only on density \(\rho\), is governed by an ODE of second order. The author considers the problem of existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions for a large class of functions \(p(\rho)\). To this end, the ODE is reduced to a nonlinear integral equation of Volterra type, and a Picard-type iterative scheme is applied. The question of region of convergence of the method outside the center of symmetry remains open.
