For a real number \(\beta>1\) let \(S_\beta\) be the transformation \[ S_\beta:[0,1)\to [0,1),\quad S_\beta(x)=\{\beta x\}, \] where \(\{y\}\) denotes the fractional part of \(y\). For example, the author shows that for reasonable pairs of Pisot-numbers \(\beta\) and \(\lambda\) there is no Bernoulli- or Markov-measure which is simultaneously invariant by two transformations \(S_\beta\) and \(S_\lambda\).
