The stability theory of quasiconformal and quasiregular mappings in \(R^n\), \(n\geq 3\), emerged from the works of \textit{Yu. G. Reshetnyak} in the 1960's (see also his new book ``Stability theorems in geometry and analysis'' (1994). The present author has also brought valuable new results to the theory by introducing new classes of mappings for which the main results of stability theory still hold, and some of his earlier works are summarized in his book. These new classes are mappings between Euclidean spaces of possibly different dimensions, satisfying certain natural invariance properties under composition of mappings and normal family properties. Some of the results in this paper are generalizations of the author's stability theory to separable infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces. The classes of mappings considered are defined in terms of regularity conditions which guarantee uniform continuity and normal family properties of these classes. So called proximity functionals are along with normal family techniques important tools for this study.
