    It is shown that the four color theorem is equivalent to the statement that, for any connected oriented trivalent graph \(G\) on \(v\) vertices, \(W_{sl(2)}(G)=0\) implies that the degree of \(W_{sl(N)}(G)\) is at most \({v\over2}+1\).
