Consider a generalized solution \(u\in \overset\circ W^ m_{p,loc}(\Omega)\) of the Dirichlet problem (with zero boundary condition for the equation \[ \sum_{| \alpha | \leq m}(- 1)^{| \alpha |}D^{\alpha}a_{\alpha}(x,u,\nabla u,...,\nabla^ mu)=\sum_{| \alpha | \leq m}(-1)^{| \alpha |}D^{\alpha}F_{\alpha}(x) \] in an unbounded domain \(\Omega \subset R^ n\) with non-compact boundary \(\partial \Omega\) where \[ | a_{\alpha}(x,\xi)| \leq d_ 1\sum^{m}_{i=0}| \xi^{(i)}|^{p-1}+f_{\alpha,1}(x), \] \[ \xi =(\xi^{(0)},\xi^{(1)},...,\xi^{(m)}),\quad \xi^{(i)}=(\xi_{\alpha}^{(i)}),\quad | \alpha | =i,\quad p>1; \] \[ \sum_{| \alpha | =m}a_{\alpha}(x,\xi^{(0)},...,\xi^{(m)})\xi_{\alpha}^{(m)}\geq | \xi^{(m)}|^ p-d_ 2\sum^{m-1}_{i=0}| \xi^{(i)}|^ p-f_ 2(x); \] \(F_{\alpha}\), \(f_{\alpha,1}\in L_{p/p-1,loc}(\Omega)\), \(f_ 2\in L_{1,loc}(\Omega)\). There are proved energetic estimates on u, depending on geometrical properties of \(\partial \Omega\) and generalizing the known results for second order equations. By using these estimates, theorems of Phragmen-Lindelöf type are given for ``narrow'' and ``wide'' domains.
