The paper uses Kuznetsov trace formula to derive several results on Hasse-Maass forms for the group \(\mathrm{SL}_3({\mathbb Z})\). In particular it shows that the Ramanujan conjecture at any fixed prime \(p\) holds for almost all such Hecke-Maass cusp forms. The main result is a version of the Sato-Tate law over the space of these cusp forms, which is the asymptotics of the average (as \(T\to\infty\)) \[ T^{-5}\sum_{\lambda_j\leq T^2}\frac{f(A_j(p))}{\mathrm{res}_{s=1} L(s,\phi_j\times\overline{\phi}_j)} \] here \(\phi_j\) has Laplacian eigenvalue \(\lambda_j\) and Hecke eigenvalue \(A_j(p)\) (for a fixed \(p\)), \(f\) is any compactly supported continuous function.
