Let \(A\) and \(B\) be complex unital Banach algebras, and let \(\sigma(x)\) and \(\sigma'(x)\) denote the spectrum of \(x\in A\) and its polynomially convex hull, respectively. A surjective map \(\varphi: A\rightarrow B\) is called spectrally additive if it has the property \(\sigma(x + y) = \sigma(\varphi(x) + \varphi(y))\) for each \(x, y \in A\) and fully spectrally additive if it has the property \(\sigma'(x + y) = \sigma'(\varphi(x) + \varphi(y))\) for each \(x, y \in A\). Several equivalent conditions that the rank of a non-zero element \(a \in A\) is one and many properties of a fully spectrally additive map are given.
