In this paper the question is studied when the domains are convexifiable around Kobayashi extremal disks, i.e. boundaries are convexifiable under a biholomorphic change of coordinates near the disk. This question is closely related to properties of the Kobayashi metric as a complex Finsler metric, particularly to the relation between extremal disks and geodesics of the metric. The author answers the question by giving necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the convexifiability in terms of convexity of the Kobayashi indicatrix and other biholomorphically intrinsic objects associated with the domain.
