Let \(V\) be a Euclidean Jordan algebra, \(\Omega\) the associated symmetric cone, and \(G\) the identity component of the linear automorphism group of \(\Omega\) equipped with the natural involution of transposition arising from the Euclidean structure on \(V\). The authors consider transposition preserving spherical representations \(\rho:G\to\text{Aut}({\mathcal E})\), where \(\mathcal E\) is a finite dimensional Euclidean space, that are polynomial in a suitable sense and associate to each an \({\mathcal E}\)-valued Riesz distribution, a distribution generalizing the classical scalar Riesz distribution. The construction is motivated by the analytic theory of highest weight representations for the connected component of the group of holomorphic automorphisms of the corresponding tube domain \(T_\Omega=V+i\Omega\). The unitarizability of such representations is shown to be closely tied to the positive definiteness of the operator valued Riesz distributions that the authors construct. Additionally these Riesz distributions provide useful tools for the study of such representations.
