The author studies singularities arising in the case of a wedge of cylindrical monoclinic elastic material subjected to an anti-plane state of strain. Using a modification of Lekhnitskij's formalism, a relation between the wedge angle \(2\alpha\) and a material parameter \(\gamma\) is obtained so that the stress at the wedge apex appears to be infinite. The classical Lévy-Carothers paradox for isotropic bodies is extended to the anisotropic case.
