Let \(\mathbb{F}= \text{SL}_{n}/B\) be the variety of complete flags over an algebraically closed field \(\mathbb{K}\), and let \(U\) be the variety of unipotent elements in \(\text{SL}_{n}\). Then the natural projection \(\pi :Y\rightarrow U\) of \[ Y=\left\{ \left( x,gB\right) \in U\times \mathbb{F}\mid g^{-1}xg\in B\right\} \] is a desingularization of \(U\). If the characteristic of \(\mathbb{K}\) is \(0\), then for a family of \( x\in U\) having exactly two Jordan blocks it is proven that irreducible components of a fiber \(\pi ^{-1}(x) \) are towers of projective line bundles (Theorem 3.4). Therefore their Chow motives are of the form \((1+L)^k\) (Theorem 4.1). There is a combinatorial description of a larger family of irreducible components which are products of towers of projective line bundles over flag varieties. Since flag varieties are themselves towers of projective bundles associated to vector bundles, the motive of such a component can be expressed in terms of the Tate motive \(L\) (Corollary 4.3).
