Lightlike thin shells can arise in inflationary scenarios of cosmology. The evolution of these shells in spacetime and what is their dynamics is investigated. Lightlike hypersurfaces of discontinuity can be treated in the framework of the distributional approach. The distributional approach is equivalent to the Darmois-Israel approach.
