This paper is concerned with the solution of isospectral problems of the form \[ L'= [B(t,L),L] \] which can be solved as \[ U'= B(t,L)U,\quad L(t_{n+1}): U(t_{n+1}) L(t_1)U^T(t_{n+ 1}). \] The authors discuss using orthogonal Runge-Kutta methods such as the Gauss-Legendre methods and then propose semi-explicit schemes based on Taylor series methods. These methods, however, do not retain the symmetry of the underlying flow and some techniques are given to mitigate some of the effects of this additional breakdown in symmetry.
