The authors study the influence of initial pressure load on frequency characteristics of a rotating truncated circular conical shell. The governing equations include the effect of initial stress field due to initial uniform pressure load, the effect of initial hoop tension, and centrifugal and Coriolis accelerations due to rotation. It is found that the initial uniform pressure load has a substantial influence on frequency characteristics of rotating conical shells. Such influence becomes more significant for large cone angles or for large circumferential wave numbers. The increasing magnitude of initial uniform pressure load increases the frequency parameter of backward and forward waves.
