A classification of unramified double coverings of hyperelliptic Riemann surfaces (Q1079987): Difference between revisions

The author studies unramified double coverings of a hyperelliptic closed Riemann surface of genus g. According to \textit{H. M. Farkas} [J. Anal. Math. 30, 150-155 (1976; Zbl 0348.32006)], there are \(2^{2g}-1\) such coverings, \({2g+2\choose 2}\) of which are hyperelliptic. The author shows that the coverings can be classified into sets of p-hyperelliptic surfaces containing \({2g+2\choose 2p+2}\) elements for \(0\leq p\leq (g-2)\), and \(1/2{2g+2\choose g+1}\) elements of odd g and \(p=(g-1)\).
