Presentations for certain Chevalley groups (Q1275295): Difference between revisions

Let \(G=\text{PSL}_n(K)\), \(n\geq 4\) for a division ring \(K\) or \(G=D_n(K)\), \(n\geq 4\) or \(E_n(K)\), \(6\leq n\leq 8\) for a field \(K\). The author gives two types of presentations for \(G\). In the first, \(G\) is generated by a finite set of subgroups \(\text{SL}_2(K)\) satisfying some relations similar to so called fundamental subgroups of \(G\). In the second, \(G\) is generated by a finite set of abelian subgroups which satisfy relations similar to the root subgroups of \(G\).
