The symmetric Galerkin boundary element method is applied to problems of finite elasticity with hyperelastic material and incompressibility, using fundamental solutions related to a fictitious homogeneous isotropic compressible linear elastic material. This leads to a boundary-domain integral formulation. The initial strain is the sum of two contributions, one from the nonlinear part of Green strain, and another from the nonlinear elastic behaviour. The initial stress coincides with the difference between the second (symmetric) and the first (nonsymmetric) Piola-Kirchhoff stresses. These initial strain and stress fields are required to satisfy suitable consistency equations to enforce their actual physical meaning.
