In the present paper, the main result is as follows: Let \(f: \mathbb R^n \to \mathbb R^n\) be a (locally) Lipschitz function and \(K\) an epilipschitz compact subset of \(\mathbb R^n\). Assume that \(K_s\) is closed and that its Euler characteristic \(\chi(K_s)\) is well defined. If \(\chi(K)\neq\chi(K_s)\), then there is a point \(x\) in \(K\) such that \(f(x)=0\). Here \(K_s\) is the set of boundary points \(x_0\) of \(K\) such that the solution to the Cauchy problem \[ x'(t)=f(x(t)), \quad t\geq 0, \;\;x(0)=x_0 \] leaves \(K\) immediately. The key tools are some properties of trajectories of the above differential equation associated with \(f\) and topological degree for set-valued maps. It reduces to a recent result of \textit{B. Cornet} [Positivity 6, No.3, 243--260 (2002; Zbl 1023.47031)] when the following inwardness condition is satisfied: \[ f(x)\in C_K(x)\qquad \text{for every}\;x\in \partial K \] where \(C_K(x)\) denotes Clarke's tangent cone in the sense of \textit{R. T. Rockafellar} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 3, 145--154 (1979; Zbl 0443.26010)].
