Since 1967 several authors investigated zero properties of monosplines and the related problem of the uniqueness of Gaussian quadrature formulae for spline spaces. Let S be a space of splines with multiple knots on [0,1]. In this paper it is shown that under certain assumptions there exists a unique quadrature formula of the form \[ Q(f)=\sum^{p+q}_{i=1}b_ iC_ i(f)+\sum^{s}_{i=1}\sum^{m_ i-1}_{j=0}a_{ij}f^{(j)}(x_ i), \] where \(C_ i(f)=\sum^{n- 1}_{j=0}A_{ij}f^{(j)}(0)\), \(i=1,...,p\), and \(C_{i+p}(f)=\sum^{n-1}_{j=0}B_{ij}f^{(j)}(1),\) \(i=1,...,q\), such that \(Q(s)=\int^{1}_{0}s(x)dx\) for all s in S. As an application the authors prove a so-called fundamental theorem of algebra for monosplines having multiple knots and satisfying boundary conditions.
