The author studies codimension 1 singular meromorphic foliations with a meromorphic first integral [\textit{X. Gómez-Mont} and \textit{A. Lins-Neto}, Topology 30, No. 3, 315-334 (1991; Zbl 0735.57014)]. In particular, he considers singular holomorphic foliations on smooth compact complex manifolds induced by certain pencils of hyperplanes of complex projective space. Under some mild assumptions, he shows that, within the codimension 1 stratum of a certain moduli space of such foliations, the foliations are structurally ``topologically simple'' in the sense that nearby foliations constitute a small number of topological conjugacy classes. These results generalize the structural stability of Lefschetz pencils as shown by Gómez-Mont and Lins-Neto [loc. cit.].
