A line method is presented for the numerical solution of evolution equations of nonlocal type. It is fourth order accurate in both space and time. The proposed line method avoids any reformulation of the problem, dealing instead directly with the original integro-differential formulation. The integral terms are efficiently discretized by using quadratures based on generalized Bernstein polynomials. The numerical examples support the analytical findings, if the kernel of the integral is smooth or, alternatively, presents weak singularities or high frequency oscillations.
