The main result of this paper is that if \(K\) is a proper subdual cone having \(\Delta:=\{x\in K : \langle x, e\rangle =1\}\) as a base, then the following are equivalent. (1) \(K\) is self-dual; (2) any element in \(\partial(\Delta)\) has an orthogonal element in \(\Delta\); (3) any element in \(\partial(\Delta)\) has an orthogonal element in \(\partial(\Delta)\); (4) any element in \(\partial(\Delta)\) has an orthogonal extreme point in \(\Delta\).
