Two formulae \((1)\quad Y_{n+1}=y_ n+h(\sqrt{f_{n-1}f_ n}+\sqrt{f_ nf_{n-1}})\) (of the second order) and \(y_{n+1}=y_ n+h/6(\sqrt{f_{n-1}f_ n}+7\sqrt{f_ nf_{n+1}}-2\sqrt{f_{n- 1}f_{n+1}}\) (of third order) are given for the numerical solution of the Cauchy problem \(y'=f(x,y)\). The stability properties of (1) are studied.
