Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p\) (\(p>0\)) and let \(\mathbb G_a\), \(\mathbb G_m\) denote the additive and multiplicative groups of \(k\). The author studies representations of \(\mathbb G_a\rtimes\mathbb G_m\) into \(\mathrm{SL}(n,k)\), mainly into \(\mathrm{SL}(3,k)\). As a consequence, the classification of fundamental (i.e. factoring through a representation of \(\mathrm{SL}(2,k)\)) representations of \(\mathbb G_a\) into \(\mathrm{SL}(3,k)\) is obtained.
