The authors are concerned with the dynamic response of a layered medium subjected to anti-plane loadings. The fundamental equation in each layer and the boundary conditions between layers are combined into the matrix equation. The computation is made by application of the method of double integral transform: Laplace transform with respect to the time, and the Fourier transform for space coordinates. The authors treat the problem of transient and static behavior of a layered half-space. The transient solution is given in explicit form by application of Cagniard's method. The corresponding static solution is deduced therefrom by the final value theorem in the transform domain. Numerical computations are made to investigate the response of a layered half-space under anti-plane loading given by Heaviside function.
