Let \(X\) be a non empty set and \(d: X\times X \to [0, \infty]\) be a function that vanishes on the diagonal and satisfies the triangle inequality, called a generalized pseudometric. If, in addition, the function is equal to zero only on the diagonal, then it is called a generalized metric, and if it does not take infinite values, then it is called a metric. The Gromov-Hausdorff distance was introduced by \textit{M. Gromov} [Structures métriques pour les variétés riemanniennes. Rédigé par J. Lafontaine et P. Pansu. Paris: Cedic/Fernand Nathan (1981; Zbl 0509.53034)]; it is a value reflecting the degree of difference between two metric spaces. Basic literature information about the Gromov-Hausdorff distance is given in the introductory part of the study. In the present paper, the author considers the Gromov-Hausdorff distance between arbitrary metric spaces without any restrictions on the properties of the spaces and proves that metric spaces in general position are everywhere dense in the proper class of all metric spaces endowed with the Gromov-Hausdorff distance.
