Non-simultaneous blow-up of positive solutions of a quasilinear parabolic system of two equations is studied. By non-simultaneous blow-up we mean the phenomenon when one component of the solution becomes unbounded in finite time while the other component stays bounded. The main result of the paper says that if the diffusion is nonlinear then spatially homogeneous solutions are not a good guide to determine whether non-simultaneous blow-up occurs.
