It is known that a holomorphic map between Kähler manifolds is a harmonic map. This result was generalized by \textit{A. Lichnerowicz} [Sympos. Math., Roma 3, Probl. Evolut. Sist. solare, Nov. 1968 e Geometria, Febb. 1969, 341--402 (1970; Zbl 0193.50101)] for a holomorphic map between almost Kähler manifolds. In odd dimension, the almost contact metric manifolds represent the analogue of almost Hermitian manifolds. A map \(f:M\to N\) between two almost contact metric manifolds \((M,\varphi,\xi, \eta,g)\) and \((N,\varphi',\xi', \eta',g')\) is called \((\varphi,\varphi')\)-holomorphic (or almost contact) if \(f_*\circ\varphi = \varphi'\circ f_*\). \textit{S. Ianus} and \textit{A. M. Pastore} [Ann. Math. Blaise Pascal 2, No.~2, 43--53 (1995; Zbl 0851.53018)] considered \((\varphi,\varphi')\)-holomorphic maps between contact (or Sasakian) manifods and proved that such maps are harmonic. In this paper the author studies \((\varphi,\varphi')\)-holomorphic maps between almost contact metric manifolds, in particular horizontally conformal \((\varphi,\varphi')\)-holomorphic submersions, and obtains some criteria for the harmonicity of such maps.
