The sandpile model has been introduced by Bak, Tang and Wiesenfeld [Comm. Math. Phys. 264, No. 3, 843 (2006)] as a typical example of dynamical systems involving self-criticality. This system exhibits Abelian property. It gives rise to various interesting problems such as, for instance, the definition of the sandpile dynamics in infinite volume on the one hand, and the uniqueness of measure with maximal entropy on the other hand. The paper focuses on the analysis of the structure of these discrete systems and provides some algebraic results which are related to the stability of the dynamics.
