The paper addresses a generalized version of the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which includes variable coefficients in front of the dispersion and nonlinear term, as well as a linear dissipative term with a variable coefficient. It is claimed that the Hirota transform applies to this general equation, without imposing any constraint on the above-mentioned variable coefficients. Following this statement, the authors produce exact solutions for sets of two dark solitons. Reviewer's remark: The validity of these results is doubtful, as it is known that such an equation cannot be integrable in the general case, without imposing special constraints on the variable coefficients.
