Kelvin's method of images is sometimes used to construct solutions of certain differential equations with boundary conditions through symmetrically extending their domain by its mirror image. The author demonstrates how this idea can be systematically applied in the context of semigroup theory to construct solutions of boundary-initial value problems arising in the theory of linear delay-differential equations, population dynamics and other areas.
