In this paper, the author improves a previous result of Leonardi, Malek, Nečas and Pokorný in two directions. In the first part, he proves the global existence of a unique solution for the axisymmetric Navier-Stokes system, when the initial velocity \(\vec{v}_0\) is in \((H^{1/2}({\mathbb R}^3))^3\) and the exterior force \(\vec{f}\) is in \((L^2_{\text{loc}}(0,T;H^s({\mathbb R}^3)))^3\) for arbitrary \(T>0\) and \(s>1/4\). In the second part, he obtains the global existence of a unique solution for the same system, when \(\vec{v}_0\) is in \((W^{2,p}({\mathbb R}^3))^3\) and the exterior force \(\vec{f}\) is in \((L^2_{\text{loc}}(0,T;W^{2,p}({\mathbb R}^3)))^3\) for arbitrary \(T>0\) and \(1<p<2\). The method used to prove the \(H^s\) part consists in adapting a previous result of I. Gallagher and F. Planchon for nonlinear wave equations, by splitting the data into a regular and a ``small'' part. The \(W^{2,p}\) part is obtained by proving at first a local in time result on \([0,T_*]\), then getting energy estimates sufficient to prove that in fact \(T_*=\infty\).
