Functional data analysis (FDA) is applied to nitrogen oxides (NOx) levels measured every hour around an industrial area in a neighborhood of Barcelona. 127 curves corresponding to different days of observation are given. Functional ANOVA is used to test differences between working and non-working days. The functional mean, trimmed mean, median and mode are considered as location estimates. Bootstrap confidence regions are built for them. Scale estimates and outlier detection procedures are also considered.
