The paper deals with the Sturm-Liouville operator with singular potential \[ L y = -(y^{[1]})' - \sigma(x)y^{[1]}-\sigma^2(x)y, \] where \(y^{[1]}=y'-\sigma y\) is a quasiderivative. The goal is to recover the operator \(L\) using zeros of eigenfunctions relative to the Dirichlet boundary conditions. The ``potential'' \(\sigma\) is assumed to have the form \(\sigma=\tilde \sigma + \hat\sigma\), where \(\tilde \sigma\) is singular and a priori known while \(\hat\sigma\) is smooth and is to be reconstructed. A constructive procedure for solving the inverse problem is given. The procedure is based on careful asymptotic analysis of solutions of associated Cauchy problems.
