An epigroup is a semigroup in which for each element, some power lies in a subgroup. The study of the lattice \(\text{Subepi\,}S\) of subepigroups of an epigroup \(S\) was initiated by \textit{L. N. Shevrin} and \textit{A. J. Ovsyannikov} [Algebra Univers. 59, No. 1-2, 209-235 (2008; Zbl 1170.20037)]. Among their results was a determination of the epigroups for which this lattice belongs to any given variety of modular lattices. In the present paper, the authors perform a similar analysis in the case of meet semidistributivity, and go on to analyze the distinction between meet semidistributivity and distributivity in this context. Together with \textit{Y.-Q. Jin}, the first author of this paper has previously considered 0-modularity and 0-distributivity of the lattice [Semigroup Forum 78, No. 2, 337-342 (2009; Zbl 1171.20036)].
