The authors study the association schemes \(Her(d,q)\) of Hermitian forms in \(d\)-dimensional spaces over the field \(GF(q^ 2)\) (see, for example, \textit{E. Bannai} and \textit{T. Ito} [Algebraic Combinatorics. I: Association schemes. Mathematics Lect. Notes Series Menlo Park, California etc. (1984; Zbl 0555.05019)]). Let \(Y=(X,\{R_ i\}_{0\leq i\leq d})\) be an association scheme whose parameters coincide with those of an \(Her(d,q)\). Suppose that every edge of the distance-regular graph \(G=(X,R_ 1)\) is contained in a clique of size \(q\). Then it is proved that if \(d\geq 3\), then \(Y\) is isomorphic to \(Her(d,q)\). In the case \(d=2\), a generalized quadrangle with the parameters \((q,q^ 2)\) is reconstructed from \(Y\).
