The paper gives an approach to the study of nonlinear boundary value problems using the contraction principle, Schauder fixed point theorem and Minty-Browder theorem. The first part deals with semilinear elliptic problems and the second part is devoted to boundary value problems for systems of ordinary differential equations \(u''+ Ku'+ f(x,u,u')= 0\), \(0< x< T\), \(u= 0\) on \(\{0,T\}\), where \(f\) is a continuous function and satisfies Lipschitz condition or \(f\) is absolutely continuous and is subject to a growth condition.
