A well known theorem of Frostman says that if \(\varphi\) is an inner function, then \([a-\varphi]/[1- \overline a \varphi]\) is a Blaschke product for all \(a\in \mathbb{D}\) with the exception at most of a set of logarithmic capacity zero. \textit{W. Rudin} [Math. Scand. 21(1967), 136-143 (1968; Zbl 0185.33301)] showed that whenever \(\varphi\) is in the Smirnow class \(N^*= \{g/h: g,h\in H^\infty,h\) outer\}, then the set of points \(w\in\mathbb{C}\) for which \(\varphi-w\) has a nontrivial singular inner factor has logarithmic capacity zero. In the paper under review, this is generalized to functions of the form \(f-wg\), where \(f\) and \(g\) are functions in \(H^p\), \((0<p \leq\infty)\) with no common singular inner factor.
