The main theorem of the paper is: Let \(\phi :N_1\times_{f} N_2\rightarrow\mathbb {CP}^m( 4c)\) be an arbitrary isometric immersion of a warped product into the complex projective \(m\)-space \(\mathbb {CP}^m( 4c)\) of constant holomorphic sectional curvature \(4c\). Then we have \[ \frac {\Delta f}{f}\leq\frac {\left( n_1+n_2\right) ^2}{4n_2} H^2+( 3+n_1) c, \] with \(n_i=\dim N_i\) and \(H^2\) being the squared mean curvature of \(\phi\). The equality sign in the above relation holds identically if and only if we have (1) \(n_1=n_2=1\), (2) \(f\) is an eigenfunction of the Laplacian of \(N_1\) with eigenvalue \(4c\), and (3) \(\phi\) is totally geodesic and holomorphic. \newline Two non-immersion theorems are obtained as immediate applications.
