    Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be real vector spaces. An additive mapping \(\sigma : X \to X\) satisfying \(\sigma(\sigma(x)) = x\) for all \(x \in X\) is called an involution of \(X\). In this paper, the authors use the direct method to prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of the functional equation \(f (x + y, z + w) + f (x + \sigma(y), z + \tau(w)) = 2f (x, z) + 2f (y, w)\), where \(\sigma\) and \(\tau\) are involutions and \(f : X \times X \to Y\) is a mapping.
