Murasugi proved that the three-fold irregular covering of \(S^{3}\) branched over a closed \(3\)-braid is a lens space of type \(L(n,1)\) [see \textit{K. Murasugi}, C. R. Math. Acad. Sci., Soc. R. Can. 2, 99--102 (1980; Zbl 0434.57002)]. In the paper under discussion the author gives an algorithm to determine the number \(n\) for a given closed 3-braid. Morover, he proves that for a three-bridge knot the three-fold irregular branched covering space is a lens space \(L(p,q)\), and gives an algorithm to determine the pair \((p,q)\).
