Different travel times are identified as viscosity solutions of the eikonal equation on locally domains called big rays. Big rays are constructed by an ad hoc algorithm based on a coarse ray tracing. Viscosity solutions in the big rays are computed using an upwind finite difference scheme. The algorithm assures a fast computation. Some notions of the variational calculus are used.
