The author considers an initial boundary value problem as a diffusion model of intergroup selection in population genetics. The author proves the existence of solutions and, under a stronger assumption, the uniqueness of the solution to this general class of diffusion models. The equation is nonlinear, however the nonlinearity is not so strong that it cannot be treated using linear methods.
