The programme advocated by \textit{M. J. Cowen} and \textit{R. G. Douglas} [Acta Math. 141, 187--261 (1978; Zbl 0427.47016)] is still evolving with surprising twists and remarkable results. The note under review fits exactly into Cowen-Douglas framework, by finding natural conditions for the existence of a joint intertwiner of functional tuples of operators and their adjoints. The proofs are natural, extending known techniques proposed a few decades ago by \textit{R. E. Curto} and \textit{N. Salinas} [Am. J. Math. 106, 447--488 (1984; Zbl 0583.47037)].
