In this paper, the authors study translation surfaces from a singularity theory viewpoint. They study singular points of translation surfaces using the method of framed surfaces and also the method of one-parameter families of framed curves. A framed surface is a smoothly parametrized surface in the Euclidean 3-space with a moving frame. By using the curvatures of one-parameter families of framed curves, the authors give relations between framed surfaces and one-parameter families of framed curves.
