The authors investigates the convergence rate of the Levenberg-Marquardt iterative regularization scheme for nonlinear ill-posed problems [see \textit{Q. Jin}, ``On a regularized Levenberg-Marquardt method for solving nonlinear inverse problems'', Numer. Math. 115, No. 2, 229--259 (2010; Zbl 1201.65087), Tech.rep., University of Texas at Austin (2009)]. The nonlinear operator equation considered by the authors, contains in the left hand side a nonlinear differentiable operator between two Hilbert spaces, whose Fréchet derivative is locally uniform bounded. The case when the right hand side of the equation is perturbed with an initial error which satisfies a source condition is discussed. With certain imposed assumptions the uniqueness of the solution of the equation is ensured and then the convergence of Levenberg-Marquardt regularization scheme, with optimal rates, is proved. The results are valid under weak restrictions on the step sizes.
