Riemann problem in non-ideal gas dynamics (Q2360377): Difference between revisions

The authors solve the 1D Riemann problem for van der Waals gases for arbitrary initial distributions and study the existence and uniqueness of shock, contact discontinuity, and simple wave solutions. R-H and Lax conditions are derived. Conditions on the initial data for shock solutions and/or simple waves are obtained. Interaction of two shocks is also studied.
