Let \(A\) be an \(m\)-completely accretive operator in \(L^ 1(\Omega)\), where \((\Omega,{\mathcal B},\mu)\) is a \(\sigma\)-finite measure space. Let \(j: \Omega\times\mathbb{R}\to [0,\infty]\) be measurable in \(x\in\Omega\), convex and lower semicontinuous in \(r\in\mathbb{R}\), with \(j(x,0)=0\). Consider in \(L^ 1(\Omega)\) the operator \(B\) defined by: \(w\in Bu\) iff \(j(r)\geq j(u(x))+ (r-u(x))w(x)\), \(\forall r\in\mathbb{R}\), a.e. \(x\in\Omega\). Natural \(m\)-completely accretive extensions of \(A+B\) in \(L^ 1(\Omega)\) are defined and studied and applications to evolution equations of the form \(du/dt+ (A+ B)u\ni f\) are given.
